Update 14/04/09

My new staff profile at Bournemouth University can now be found here and will also be regularly updated.

Update 06/09/08

I am now employed at Bournemouth University as a Lecturer In Media Technology. I am also continuing with the write-up of my PhD thesis. This site will be slightly updated to reflect some of these changes and also the fact that I have entered write-up phase after three years at City Uni... Other than that all the content here will remain unaltered and all future updates in publications and all other news will be posted both here and also to the Bournemouth University profile/website simultaneously (soon to add link for that).

Update 11/02/08

A quick update before returning to the UK on the 14th of January, I have just had 2 new international conference publications of my research work accepted with a further one under review (and two that are under preparation at the moment). You can find more details on these here. I will attend the two conferences mentioned above sometime in February and March respectively.

Update 16/06/07

I have just created a personal blog which will serve as a scientific diary and also communication forum with other researchers and also work colleagues from the department. This blog can be found at the following link, http://christosgatzidis.blogspot.com, please feel free to check it out and drop me a line on how I could improve it.

Update 30/04/07

Just a quick update; you will find my presentation for the Laval VRIC 2007 conference below, as given on the 20th of April. Ppt

Update 21/03/07

I am taking my Easter leave and flying back home to Greece between the 30th of March and the 15th of April. On my return I will be attending the 9th International Conference In Virtual Reality at Laval, France and will be back in office on Monday the 23rd of April. I am presenting a publication on automated 3D urban modelling at the aforementioned conference which can be found under the relevant section of this site. Furthermore, I have just completed successfully my MPhil to PhD transfer by submitting a report of all the work carried out up until this point and also by doing a presentation in front of the giCentre research group I belong to. This presentation can be downloaded from the link below. Ppt

Update 02/11/06

Quick update on some of the activities I have been involved with recently and will be in the near future; this week I had a progress meeting with ALCATEL UK which involved amongst other issues brainstorming on my research topics and also presenting the work-in-progress results to people higher in the company's hierarchy so that more exposure for our collaboration is gained. I am also continuing implementation of an automated 3D urban modelling tool for mobile devices. Finally, I have began work on my MPhil to PhD transfer report for which the presentation will take place sometime in late winter/early spring...

Update 03/07/06

I will be out of the office (and the UK) for the period between the 31st of July up until the 30th of August. I will however be accessible via email on most of these days, for anything more urgent please look me up before the end of this month.

Update 20/06/06

Last week I attended the second UK Convergence Alcatel Telecom event where a number of mobile/fixed technologies were presented to commercial customers with the view of demonstrating how these two can be brought together. Aside from attending the three presentations I was put in charge of one of the foyer demo stands where I took several representatives of various UK operators through a gaming product Alcatel is pitching. I found the event very useful in getting an idea of how mobile applications can be pitched to the industry world.

I am also trying to arrange a second group seminar where I will follow up presenting the initial idea/concept for my PhD with something more elaborate so that I can gain more feedback from the rest of my research colleagues. This should be sometime in late July if all goes well. Here you can find a link for downloading the presentation for the first group seminar I did in mid-March. Ppt
